WestEdge Design Fair is taking place this coming week at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica! The annual design event kicks off Thursday, October 24th with an opening night party and is open through the weekend, until October 27th. During the event exhibitor booths will be on display and panel discussions, workshops, culinary events & tastings, and more are all part of the three day show. I’m looking forward to attending opening night on Thursday along with a media preview and additional networking events. Here’s a preview of some of the exhibitor highlights! West | Wood Architectural Surfaces will showcase new colors in its line. Studio Ford will feature it’s line of textiles including table linens, quilts, and scarves. Nero Fire Design showcases its high end fireplaces with water vapor technology. Fantini is an exquisite high end line of bathroom and kitchen fittings - can’t wait to see what they have on display! The super cool company Buster + Punch has a line of hardware, lighting, furniture, accessories, and more! I’m loving everything on their website and can’t wait to check out at the show! Forbes & Lomax carries the coolest 1930’s era switch plates, sockets, and dimmers. Art Hide and Amigos de Hoy will showcase a line of hide rugs and natural fiber area rugs. Graff Designs will be featuring three new collections from their plumbing line. And a highlight, Kitchen Signature Suite will have a culinary pavilion where you can learn about the latest luxury appliance innovations and enjoy daily demonstrations and samplings from leading chefs including a “True Italian Taste” by the Italy America Chamber of Commerce. I’m definitely wanting to check that out! For more info and to purchase tickets, visit: www.westedgedesignfair.com

For a second time, I had the opportunity to visit the lovely people at the Costa Mesa Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove Showroom for the “Live Deliciously” event with corporate Chef Molly. The pretty and festive table set for our intimate group! We had a little interactive cooking demo, with the help of Chef Molly we prepped some of the ingredients for our pizzas while learning about the cooking process with hands on appliance experience. The table set, candles lit, followed by an amazing dinner (thanks to Chef Molly) and great conversation (so happy to be getting to know everyone who works at the Costa Mesa showroom) - which is stunning and worth a visit (you too can experience the cooking demos and food tastings!).
Last week I attended an event at the beautiful historic Beverly Hills Women’s Club on behalf of Women In Luxury Design. Renowned architect Marc Appleton gave an amazing inspiring talk about woman who’ve become successful architects, stemming from the days when it was a more male dominated field. Luxe Interiors + Design magazine was among one of the several event sponsors. A table spread of yummy appetizers. And beautiful floral arrangements from the Empty Vase. The monogram above the stage at the Beverly Hills Women’s Club.
This past week I attended a luncheon event at California Closets of Orange County. As part of the event, we got to tour the showroom and learn more in depth about the product. Gone are the days (that I remember) of white laminate! Now, an array of trend setting finishes are available. The luxe women’s closet is stunning in person! Very elegant and pretty. Drawer detail lining. They also offer wall units like this tv display. The men’s version luxe closet. These pull outs are great, and for keeping items organized. A fun and organized craft room space. Lots of hardware to chose from! And many more finishes!
Thank you to California Closets of Orange County for hosting us! Lamps Plus recently invited a group of designers and media to attend a summer luncheon with brand ambassador Jennifer Farrell highlighting Fall trends. We enjoyed an amazing lunch at one of my local favorites, A.O.C. along with socializing with new and old friends. Thank you to Lamps Plus for including me at their recent summer luncheon. The pretty wine room venue at A.O.C. for our private luncheon. A three course luncheon with the always amazing food at A.O.C. Lamps Plus brand ambassador and interior design / tv host, Jennifer Farrell sharing her Fall lookbook selections. Highlighting some of the Fall trends featured in the lookbook, is this stunning Tangle Pendant. I’m going to keep this in mind for a great room breakfast nook project I’m currently working on. Love the transitional and modern mix of the Paxton Pendant. These Brava Wall Lamps are gorgeous! I’m always on the lookout for something new and different, love this Arrow Sconce. Noted as a must use for a future project! It’s one great thing after the next! Loving these sconces from the Yara Collection as a must use for a future bathroom remodeling project! I find this Declan Sconce very transitional and elegant. I could see using in a hallway or flanking a fireplace. The Casa Ceiling Light is super glam. I’d love to use in a master bedroom. Lamps Plus is a great source for furnishings too. Often, I find stylish affordable pieces for clients. These Reign Barstools are striking and look comfortable and love the colored velvet, just $249 too!
Last week I was invited to attend “The Dinner Table” with Sub-Zero Wolf at the Cove Showroom in Costa Mesa. Our evening began with cocktails and tastings, a brief showroom tour, followed by an exceptional dinner prepared by the showroom’s own personal chef, Molly Kruger. I was in the company of several of my friends and fellow design colleagues - it felt like quite an intimate dinner party! The table setting was decorated so pretty and each of our dishes which were coursed, were amazing. Chef Molly’s cooking is exceptional! The first course from our tasting menu. The dish is watermelon paired with duck breast (but as I don’t eat meat, mine was paired with halloumi). Even so, a beautiful presentation and tasty. The desert. Detail of a Wolf cooktop. The Cove Showroom in Costa Mesa is stunning. Beautifully designed, state of the art, abundant natural lighting, and an outdoor BBQ set up complete with a retractable roof that opens up to feel that true outdoor vibe. Close up of that beautiful BBQ and signature red knobs from Wolf. Even the details on the stem of our wine glasses... The next morning we were treated to a breakfast demo. Chef Molly prepared shashuka for us (all of the cooking was done on Wolf appliances as part of the demonstration). Thank you to the Cove Showroom Costa Mesa for hosting us and to Gita PR for including me.
Last week while in Florence, Italy I attended the 83rd Florence International Artisan Fair. The event takes place at the Fortezza da Basso, a fort inside the walls of fourteenth century Florence. The fair consists of various pavilions including art, decor, furnishings, clothing, accessories, food and wine. The event also includes a courtyard set up of Italian street food and food trucks. Outside the walls of Fortezza da Basso. My first time attending the show on behalf of Camera di Commercio Firenze and PromoFirenze. Innovative furnishings inside the first pavilion we toured. A sculptural marble piece. Details of a wood table. A woven, roped like chair. Love these marble vases. The next exhibit we toured was inside this adorable landscaped cottage within the fortress walls. It was called, “The Seven Wonders of Tuscany” exhibit. Another favorite was this alabaster art piece. I loved the vibrant color and color combination of these ceramic vases. I actually tested out these marble loungers - and they are both comfortable and cool (cold) feeling, but in a way that felt relaxing from running around the show and feeling warm. Green glass dishware. A bronze sculpture. The exhibit featured many live demonstrations, like this man painting. A ceramic vase. A marble lamp. One of the other exhibits featured a mix of jewelry and handbags. There was also artsy clothing, like this Pantone color chip skirt. Italian street food vendors were in the outdoor pebbled courtyard. Classic Cacio e Pepe was available at one of the food trucks. And beers on tap! I love how this food truck was selling “old Sicily & new food”! Thank you to Camera di Commercio Firenze and Promo Firenze for including me to be a part of the #MeetTheArtisans international group attending this year’s fair.
Cosentino, the quartz surfaces company from Spain, has opened its first flagship in Los Angeles with the new Cosentino City showroom located on Beverly Boulevard in the heart of the West Hollywood Design District. This past week I attended the opening night party with colleagues and friends. Cosentino’s Brand Ambassador, supermodel Cindy Crawford, hosted the opening night party. I also had the opportunity to attend her brand collaboration event with Cosentino two years ago at Milk Studios in Hollywood. Celebratory drinks in the house! Cheese, meat, and fruit spread with samples of Cosentino products in the presentation. Decadent desserts. Cindy Crawford makes her way through the gallery after signing one of the slabs.
Over the weekend I attended the Latin Food Fest held at the Los Angeles Historic Park. We lucked out because the weather was amazing and it was a beautiful, sunny, warm, yet cool day to be outside enjoying great food and perhaps, a few too many drinks. Great wines (from the likes of Argentina & Spain) and seemingly, lots of tequila was flowing. We had the privilege of getting into the VIP tent which had some extra great chefs and food samplings. Probably one of my most favorite was the scallops with mole verde, shishotos, radish, snap peas, & hoja santos from Hoja Blanco. Definitely a winner for me! Homemade tortillas.
