This past week I had the opportunity to participate in a designer training program on behalf of Monogram Appliances at their design center located on the first floor of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago.
As part of the two day event, we learned in depth about the Monogram line of products as well as got to experience them via cooking demos and our own hands-on cooking experiences. Pictured here with my cooking partner in crime, Anna Gibson.
A bar vignette showcases a minibar dishwasher to the left and refrigerator with ice maker to the right.
A full kitchen display featuring the built in oven Advantium with speed cook technology and a column refrigerator to the far right.
Just outside of the Merchandise Mart on a beautiful spring day is the Chicago River ...still a little green from St. Patrick’s Day.
Fun with friends and fellow designers Anna, Florence, me, and Gustavo - checking out The Bean in Millennium Park.
Thank you to Monogram Appliances and Chef Jon for hosting us!
It was great to be a among one of of the biggest group of influencers I’ve ever taken part in, being included in this year’s Designhounds group attending the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas. We had such an amazing group of twenty-four girls along with Sara, Florence, and Veronika from Modenus. I had so much fun getting to know these girls and making new friends!
Thought I would share a round up of Instagram posts by my fellow Designhounds. After a whirlwind few days together it was fun to go back and look at what everyone posted, through their insights and finds from, what is, the biggest kitchen and bath trade show. So much to see and cover, that whatever it was I may have missed, was bound to catch the eye of someone else!

During our visit to KBIS last month, our Designhounds group got an exclusive booth tour with one of our sponsors, Lamps Plus. I have long sourced from this local, Southern California based company for many of my design projects. I’ve found that you can find almost anything you are looking for on the website and most items are well priced, with almost always something to fit a specific budget. Over the years Lamps Plus has been a go to source for me for anything from sconces for bathroom renovations, pendants or chandeliers for dining areas, table lamps for bedrooms and living rooms, and so much more. Within the selections, you can also find some designer styles, two of my favorites: George Kovacs and Jonathan Adler. Plus they have more than just lighting, furnishings ranging from home accents, art, & decor and furniture are available too.
Looking back to some of the project concept boards I’ve done, you can find some great Lamps Plus finds. For this bedroom furnishings concept board I selected a hammered bronze table lamp for bedside table lamps.
Brighton Hammered Pot Bronze Table Lamp from Lamps Plus
For a bright and cheerful kid’s bathroom remodel, I choose these glass wall sconces.
Kichler Braelyn Chrome High Seedy Wall Sconce from Lamps Plus
For this breakfast room concept board, I chose plug in sconces as a practical lighting solution since the client currently does not want to hardwire for any electrical. These cool vibe sconces are by Jonathan Adler and available on the Lamps Plus site.
Jonathan Adler Havana Nickel Plug-In Sconce from Lamps Plus
In this kitchen remodel finish selections concept board, I choose these pendants for over the island - the black finish ties in great with the hardware too.

It was so great being a part of the Designhounds group attending the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Las Vegas last month. I’ve much to share and a recap / roundup coming shortly! If you’ve never attended KBIS, it just so happens to be the biggest kitchen and bath convention ever! There is so much to see and experience, including the latest and greatest in the industry! More highlights coming soon!
Excited to share that I’ve been invited by Modenus for the Designhounds tour attending KBIS this February 2019!
Looking forward to being a part of this great group!
Last week I attended the launch of the new furniture collection by Nate + Jeremiah for Living Spaces. The line offers stylish pieces for an affordable price with a special order program that allows to select the fabric and customize any of the designs. This is a great option for design projects!
Side chairs that are contemporary and sophisticated.
I loved this daybed when I saw it in person - I have this color as an accent in my bedding and it would make a great fit for my bedroom.
The event venue was at Casita Hollywood, a new event space and a great place to host a party.
The pretty bar area.
The buffet spread.
Tasty passed hors d’oeuvres.
The outdoor patio area at Casita Hollywood.
Guests filled the room and had the opportunity to sit in the new collection of sofas, sectionals, and chairs.

The much anticated WestEdge Design Fair takes place next week! I am looking forward to attending opening night and seeing many of my design friends and colleagues. WestEdge has truly become the prominent design fair on the West Coast. I’ve been hearing the buzz for the past few weeks while attending events around town and we all keep saying to one another, “See you at WestEdge!” So will we see YOU at WestEdge? For tickets and info here!
Roche Bobois has launched a new furnishings collection with designer Marcel Wanders. To celebrate, Roche Bobois and Architectural Digest hosted an event at the magical Houdini Estate in Hollywood’s infamous Laurel Canyon. It was an amazing party filled with creativity transporting us through three countries and their cities: Istanbul, Paris, and London for the “Globe Trotter” theme.
We began in “Istanbul” where there was a hookah lounge set up on the entry level.
Which also included a spread of Turkish deserts, nuts and spices along with Turkish coffee.
The lush grounds of the Houdini Estate took us to the next level via steep steps and a bridge.
The background on the second level was “Paris” with park benches and bistro chairs and tables, music and a mime.
A stage was set up showcasing the new Globe Trotter furnishings collection by Marcel Wanders
A map of the estate and themed areas which also included activities, such as an area where you could make your own perfume.
On the top level was “London” which included a fun Polaroid photo booth.
It was a fun night with design friends (l-r): Edith Ponciano, Giuseppe Colucci, Kam Kamran, and Allan Dallatorre.
And with the designer himself - Marcel Wanders! (Whom I first had the pleasure of meeting back in 2012 on Blog Tour London.)
One of the biggest parties of the year took place during the Pacific Design Center’s annual Fall Market. As a much anticipated event, we celebrated the Lifetime Achievement Award Honoring Rocky LaFleur, our design community icon. I was fortunate enough to attend the party with many of my friends and colleagues. In addition, my friend Allan of LA Event Lights provided the spectacular lighting for the evening - illuminating the entire fifth level double height atrium of the Pacific Design Center.
Here is a before picture of the corridor space on the fifth and sixth levels of the Pacific Design Center that was transformed for the night’s party.
The space is illuminated by lighting, including custom GoBo projections for the sponsors.
The attendees filled the space which included a center bar and stage. All of the lighting is LED production and 90% battery operated technology.
With the honory guest of the evening, Rocky LaFleur (center) along with design friends (l-r): Lynnea Schweiters, Gregory Firlotte, and Amanda Neistat. Both Gregory and Amanda helped in putting together the event for the big night.
And great job to LA Event Lights for the amazing lighting display! Such a fun and celebratory night!
