Home improvements tend to feature highly on the majority of our to-do lists. At the end of the day, home is where the heart is and we’re going to want to do what we can to improve the spaces where we spend the vast majority of our time. Whether that’s getting ready for work, kicking back and relaxing on days off, cooking, entertaining friends and family or anything else. You’re going to want your home to be comfortable and presentable. Of course, with various rooms to choose from, it can be difficult to determine where to start. Here are a few areas that you might like to take into consideration on this journey. The Kitchen They say that the kitchen is the heart of any home. So why not start here? The interesting thing about kitchen design is that it has to be functional first and foremost. Then you can start to focus on interior design and aesthetics. Make sure that your workspaces and storage spaces are up to standard. You may find that over time, your countertop has become worn and damaged, and may need to look into new options from Stone World. Alternatively, your pantry may be worn down and need new shelving units. Once you’ve got the essentials under wraps, you can then look into more fun elements of home design, such as fun storage solutions, wine coolers and more. The Lounge When it comes to kicking back and relaxing, the vast majority of us will head straight to the lounge. This tends to be the space in our homes with the most comfortable seating and also the most entertainment options, such as the television. Consider ways that you can make your lounge more comfortable than it already is. This may involve installing lamps and other forms of low lighting, or it could mean having carpets fitted for a softer and warmer underfoot experience. Other great lounge renovations include allowing more natural light to filter through the space through the installation of skylights or larger windows. The Bathroom Bathrooms don’t tend to get much TLC when it comes to home design and they rarely feature on the top of people’s renovation lists. But when you consider how often people use the bathroom in your home, and when you consider its basic functions, you really should make sure that it’s up to date and in good condition. This may involve retiling, having a new tub fitted, repainting walls that face any water exposure and considering new flooring. Repeated exposure to water and damp can often cause parts of bathrooms to age and wear faster than other rooms, so definitely make sure to give yours a look in on your to-do list. These are just three rooms that you might want to consider when you’re choosing which parts of your home to focus renovation projects on. Sure, this may require time, budget and effort. But all in all, it will prove more than worth the investment you put into it.

If you are in the process of selling your home then you be wondering where to even begin. Your current home will need to be sorted out before you move out. If you are waiting to sell your current home before buying a new place then there is no harm in looking around. This gives you a general idea of how much you will be able to get for your money. Trying to sell your home can be tricky as you never know what buyers want. Take a look below to find out how you can make your home more appealing. Pexels CCO License
Clean It One of the first things you need to do within your home is thoroughly clean it. If you wouldn’t put an offer on a dirty home then you can’t expect others to do this. It may seem like a huge job but if you do it little by little then it makes things a lot easier. In order to make sure your home is sparkling when people look around it may help to check out some furniture guides. This will give you some insight into making sure everything is sparkling. As well as cleaning all the rooms and surfaces within your home, it is a nice idea to clean the floors. Now, if you have hardwood flooring then this is slightly easier than carpet. You will need to vacuum, mop, and then steam all your hard floors. If you vacuum and then shampoo your carpets this will ensure any ground-in dirt and debris is removed. Free Up Space If you have heard that you are selling your home as four walls then you will be mistaken. A lot of potential buyers look beyond your four walls when they come to look around. If you have clutter everywhere and lack space then this can put them off from putting in an offer. It might be a good idea to declutter your home before opening it up for viewings. Two reasons for this, the first being that buyers won’t be able to envision their own belongings filling the space. The second reason is that if your home is cluttered it will seem a lot smaller than it is. Open up that space and make it seem like there is ample space and storage available. Curb Appeal When it comes to selling your home, it isn’t just the interior that you have to think about. Once you have sorted this, head outside to the garden. Your garden and outdoor space need to be warm and welcoming to guests and visitors. This is the first thing people will see when they turn up at your home, if it doesn’t look appealing or well-managed then you may not get a lot of offers. Fix Everything Finally, when it comes to selling your home it is important that you don’t sell it in a fixer-upper state. Two reasons for this, one is that not many buyers want to buy a home that needs a lot of maintenance. The second reason is that it will knock a great chunk of cash off the asking price. You may have gathered up quite a repairs to-do list while living in your property. Some of these might not be urgent, however, if they are then they will need to be done straight away. It’s important that you know what needs to be fixed and what should take priority when you want to know how to sell a fixer-upper house fast. Something like a leaky roof for example will need to be repaired instantly as it can cause more damage if left. 4 Home Upgrades Worth Considering Improving your home is beneficial for many reasons. For starters, it increases your home’s comfort and functionality. Likewise, you can make your home more cost-efficient by reducing utility bills and maintenance costs. It’s also easier to identify and fix things that could have undermined your household’s safety if neglected. It also boosts your home’s value and makes it easier to attract potential buyers if you decide to sell it later. Research indicates that the home improvement market will grow by $20.4 billion by 2022, crediting its popularity. Fortunately, you can improve your home by including certain upgrades, including the following.

It can also make your meal preps and cooking sessions more comfortable. A stained, chipped, cracked, or damaged countertop may be aesthetically unappealing and ruin your kitchen’s overall look. Worse, it can create a suitable environment for bacteria to hide and grow, increasing your risk of falling ill. Therefore, you want to upgrade your kitchen countertops if you haven’t already. You’ll find it helpful to invest in low-maintenance and durable kitchen countertops to prevent stains and cracks from ruining their appearance. You can consider quartz, granite, marble, soapstone, or limestone options. Likewise, recycled glass, solid surfacing, and laminate countertops work well, so keep this in mind. You also want to consider countertop trends and choose one that blends with your backsplash, faucet, and sink. As a tip, stick to a budget to avoid straining your finances. 2. Roofing Your roof is an essential aspect of your home for good reasons. First, it protects your household and belongings from the rain, snow, and other weather conditions. Likewise, it’s instrumental for proper insulation in all seasons, making your home more energy-efficient and reducing monthly bills. Seeing these benefits, keeping your roof in good condition makes sense. However, roofing doesn’t last forever, and you’ll have to replace it after noticing certain signs. For instance, you want to undertake a roof replacement if yours is over 25 years old. Also, missing, curled, or cracked shingles indicate that your current roof isn’t in good condition. You also need a new roof if your current one is discolored and decrease’s your curb appeal. You can begin your roof replacement project by contacting credible roofing contractors. Likewise, choose durable roofing options like cedar roofing for the best results. You can check out https://dwightsroofing.com/cedar-roofing/ for cedar roofing options. Experts also warn against installing new roof shingles over old ones, as it adds more weight to your roof and makes repairs more difficult. Consequently, relocate your cars and other items to prevent damage, and keep your pets or kids away to avoid injuries. It’s also prudent to cut grass and prune trees before commencing your project, so keep this in mind. Since roof replacement can be noisy, you’ll find it helpful to inform your neighbors, so they know what to expect. Ensure that you don’t leave debris lying around to ensure safety. 3. Radiant-heat floor Another upgrade worth considering is radiant-heat flooring. Radiant heat is more energy-efficient than forced-air heating and baseboard heating, as it prevents duct losses and consumes less energy. Moreover, it makes your home cozier without noise while eliminating the risks of inhaling dust and other allergens. It enhances your home’s aesthetics, as you won’t have to deal with wall-mounted radiators. It’s important to leverage flooring options that conduct heat efficiently to achieve the best results. Tile and laminate flooring are great examples, so feel free to consider these. Likewise, buy a radiant heating system from a credible brand to ensure longevity. 4. Bathroom exhaust fans Image credit
Bathroom exhaust fans eliminate unpleasant odors from your bathroom while reducing humidity. This, in turn, prevents mold and mildew from growing and protects your bathroom paint or wallpaper. Moreover, it eliminates airborne contaminants and preserves your health. However, a faulty exhaust fan may not function properly, and you wouldn’t enjoy these benefits. Therefore, changing yours is a good decision. Fortunately, tell-tale signs will help you determine when to replace them. For instance, foul odors, excess moisture, or loud noises are what to look out for. Age also contributes to reduced function, so keep this in mind. Working with a professional will be the best option. However, you can DIY if you have enough experience in this area. When choosing an exhaust fan, consider your bathroom size and moisture-generating fixture. Since your bathroom can aid relaxation, you’ll find it helpful to invest in low-noise fans to create a soothing ambiance. Various exhaust fans have smart additions like built-in heaters and humidity sensing, so feel free to consider them. Pexels - CC0 License
If you have the funds, land, and justification to do so, it can be tremendously freeing to build an exterior construction on your property. This might take the shape of a fantastic exterior office environment or studio you can use to create and deliver your professional package, or it might simply be a spare living abode for guests or even your adult son or daughter returning home for a spell. Integrating an exterior building with your main property is important to consider at this stage, because when you’re able to effectively ensure the design is inkeeping or at least connected to the main building, it will nestle into your overall home environment more easily. In other words, no one wishes for a completely disconnected and tired building in their garden, no matter how much utility this provides. Thankfully, this doesn’t have to be an outcome you experience. In this post, we’ll discuss how and why integrating an exterior building with your main property can be so useful. The Connecting Path The connecting path between the two properties will help you keep a sense of visual cohesion from one to the other. This doesn’t have to be overly ornate of course, a simple wood chip path divided by inlaid wooden beams can add that rustic appeal without taking away anything from the natural aestehtic of your garden. Or, you can opt for something a little more robust, like a stone path with a garden arch that you can place garden lamps in for the most beautiful ambience. Regardless, when you connect an exterior building in this way, it helps its position seem more accessible. The Exterior Finish The exterior finish of your exterior building may help it match perfectly with your main building, or can help the aesthetics ‘rhyme’ with one another without necessarily opting for the exact same finish. If you’re unsure of what fitting to go for, using the StateLine Exteriors siding contractor can be a tremendous help, as here you’ll be able to see how siding and certain textured finishes can help your exterior building retain its own sense of identity while still fitting in with the themed formatting of the main building. The Necessary Furnishings The necessary furnishings of a home are important to consider, but what about your exterior building? Well, you don’t have to match the exact kinds of chairs or fittings that you have within your main property. But it can be nice to apply some of the same visual theming so such a space remains cohesive. Similar window fittings, for instance, can help you keep the exterior building seen as an extension to your main house, even if they’re not quite connected. This way, the valuation such an exterior building can provide to your property, as a spiritual part of it, will increase the overall value of your real estate. With this advice, we believe you’ll be able to better integrate an exterior building with your main property through and through. Pexels - CCO Licence
Many of us like to refresh our home in the summer season so that we can make it as comfortable as possible whether we are enjoying a staycation at home or simply trying to keep cool during the course of normal life. When it comes to preparing the home for summer, as well as booking AC repair services installing cooling blinds and shutters, and clearing up the garden, many of us like to redecorate the place, and one of the most popular colors for redecorating in the summer is cooling, crisp white. If you are looking to decorate your home with chic and simple white, and you’re looking for inspiration, here are a few ideas you might enjoy: The world traveler One look that can be amazing when you are centering white in your color scheme is that of the world traveler. Summer is often the time we start to think about heading off on vacation, but even if you are staying at home, you can get the summer vacation vibe by transforming your home into an eclectic mix of world influences. White walls combined with textiles from India, statues from Europe, paintings for South America, etc., will make your home a million times more interesting for you and anyone who visits, while also providing you with lots of fun travel inspiration. A nautical theme If you are looking to use white as the base for your decor, then a nautical theme, especially in the summer, can look quite sophisticated. Blend your basic white walls with lots of striped and navy accessories, natural rope, and maybe even a shell or two and it will almost feel li,e you’re cruising in a yacht on the high seas. The minimalist look If you really love white and you want your home to feel light and bright, but also cool and crisp, go for the minimalist look. As well as painting the walls white, invest in white furniture, white accessories…white everything, Remove anything from the room that does not need to be there, and enjoy the simplicity of your home, which will make the views from the windows with the blue skies and rainbow or flowers, pop all the more. After all. There is nothing more stunning than nature, and if you have a good view, keeping your decor white will really help it to shine. The farmhouse look If it’s comfy and cozy you're looking for, then you might think white is out, but if you go for the farmhouse look, your white decor can be every bit as warm as you like. For the farmhouse look, white walls are complemented with woven chairs, patterned fabrics, natural wood, and lots of comfy accessories like pillows and rocking chairs. Think olde worlde charm, design for comfort and you will love it. As you can see, there are lots of ways that you can use basic white to completely transform your home into a stylish and chic abode during the summer months - which one will you choose? The annual Heimtextil trade show returned for summer 2022 after a few years hiatus due to the pandemic. The show, despite its smaller scale preview, was back in full force with all of its usual events, parties, talks, and display spaces - including the Trends Space (pictured above). The topic of sustainability in the industry is still the dominant subject along with a current concern: supply chain issues. Both of these subjects were touched on during our first day’s press event. Sustainability is certainly a concerning topic and it’s admirable that the design industry (& Heimtextil) is taking a very responsible approach to it. Included in the press event were the goals toward sustainability (featured on the chart above). Our first visit after attending the press event for Heimtextil, was a guided tour of this year’s Trend Space. Outlined in signage are the requirements to meet the standards for sustainability. For this year’s Trend Space, the theme was Next Horizons with the trends Deep Nature, Hyper Nature, Beyond Identity, & Empowered Identity. Below is a brief highlight on each trend feature. Deep Nature is about reconnecting with the natural world. Hyper Nature is a symphony of immersive realms digitally communicating nature’s secrets and treasures. Beyond Identity is redefining what pastel means. Empowered Identity encourages one to connect with the past and identify with it through craft heritage. All the photos above showcase the immersive trends space. It’s so cool to see all the colors and fabrics, with the opportunity to touch the various textures. The yarns and Pantone colors on display were a fun idea too. Thank you to Messe Frankfurt , Heimtextil, & Gita PR for the opportunity to experience this year’s show! ———————- In addition to the Trends Space featured at Heimtextil 2022, below are some of the other highlights that caught my eye in colors, patterns, and exhibitor displays.
