I’ve always had a love for contemporary abstract art and often specify for clients, whether their homes are modern or transitional. It just seems to be a medium that ties in so well with a variety of styles adding color and vibrancy.
Recently, I was introduced to the work of artist Anne B. Schwartz. Anne is a Los Angeles based painter whose abstractionist painterly imagination remains grounded in the world of places and things.
The collection Ricordi d'Italia, merges her explorations of the mellifluous properties of color, light, and surface with direct inspiration drawn from travels to Italy.
The Crystal Aura series are an opalescent mixed media paintings created with countless layers of acrylic saturated with mica, interference pigment, natural minerals that glisten like geodes, and bounce light across their auric topographies.
Shapes, Schwartz's newest paintings, are simpler sculptured shapes derived from memories of her career designing jewelry.
The Burst collection, is an intimate selection of works from Ricordi d'Italia enlarged into wholly new paintings, compositions with exotic rhythms that are deeply influenced by Schwartz’s studies of Asian Sumi-e ink painting.
Anne welcomes inquiries and collaborations with designers, collectors, and galleries.
If you’re interested in purchasing any of the artwork seen here or on the artist’s website here, please contact her directly here.
(*Please note the inventory of available paintings fluctuates. If these specific pieces are not available they can be custom made. Please inquire for more info.)

In conjunction with KBIS in Las Vegas next week, January 21-23, the International Builders Show (IBS) will also be taking place. I attended KBIS last year and crossed over to IBS checking out all the many suppliers for the home building industry. It’s fascinating to learn about new products and see all the many materials available to the industry. One company I am looking forward to visiting at IBS is the supplier Door Stud, which is a door installation tool that revolutionizes how builders install pre-hung or slab doors.
The Door Stud cuts typical installation labor time in half. The Door Stud is a steel constructed design with a single action clamp and soft-grip handles. This durable tool simplifies the install of 1-3/8-in. and 1-3/4- in. pre-hung or slab doors. With the Door Stud, the installer handles a door once. It is vertically adjustable; holding the door upright and leveling the door in three directions for preparation of installation. The Door Stud enables the installer to conduct a single person, hands-free installation by mobilizing the door and preventing it from resting against the interior walls of the home; thus preventing damage to the wall, the door and the installer. Once the door installation is complete, the Door Stud is removed from the bottom edge of the door, ready to be used on the next job.
A range of products are available which includes the standard at just $249.99 and a commercial grade door installation tool for heavier doors. A quick door installation kit is also available to expedite the door hanging process for professional builders, which allows for hanging doors five times faster.
They have 2 main products for your door installation needs (sold in pairs):
For the DIY, the Door Stud features some instructional info and tips on their blog and for more product info visit their Instagram here.
Understanding door types is extremely important too for installation, everything from interior to exterior doors, to pre-hung and slab doors. I know I’ve had my fair share of door installation problems in past projects - especially in older homes - so a product like the Door Stud offers assistance for the variety of door types in project installation.
Looking forward to visiting Door Stud this coming week at the International Builders Show. They will be in booth number SU3816 if you are attending and would like to learn more about the product.

I recently came across the company Docking Drawer. They are the creator and market leader of in-drawer electrical outlets, with patented and simple-to-specify solutions which offer a reliable way to add movable drawer outlets safely, while keeping your spaces organized. Docking Drawer offer a variety of solutions designed to fit into all types of cabinets and countertops which can be installed in your home’s kitchen and bathroom as well as in custom furnishings.
They offer a variety of in-drawer power outlets for items like hairdryers, curling irons, etc. For a full list of the collection, view here.
For charging outlets, they offer a selection for tablets, laptops, cell phones. These are a great way to customize furniture in your home for an organized and clutter free environment.
Charging and power outlets for built-in closets are a convenient way to charge up the gadgets that make their way to your closet and also items like running watches that are stored there.
Docking Drawer outlets are the perfect addition to your end tables, media stands, or entry way furniture.
For great desk organization, these are a must! There is just too much taking over the surface of a desk, especially when it comes to cords.
Docking Drawer are also great for commercial and retail applications. Specifying outlets and charging stations requires design planning and locations and integral part of the as built drawing process.
