 There are many options for designing closets and closet door styles. Recently, I helped a client revamp their existing bedroom closet and one of the challenges was coming up with alternatives for the closet doors that were not a standard flat panel white closet door as well as a look to work with the existing bedroom (which we’d worked on prior); the closet redesign came after.  A variety of closet designs and door style concepts.  To help convey ideas & directions for the project, I put together these concept boards for my client for feedback. They opted to go with a wood stain door frame inset with mirrors. The wood finish ties in with bedroom furnishings they just had refinished and the mirrors are practical as full length mirrors. An added bonus is that the closet runs along a narrow hallway and as they say, mirrors help give the appearance of more spaciousness.  Ornate detailed doors. Image via here on Pinterest.  I was recently working on concepts for a small bathroom remodel with a budget to allow for only minor cosmetic renovations. In the process of putting together inspiration and direction for the project, I came across some bold, colorful vanities — and thought — why not go for a “statement vanity”!?  This concept board was actually for a project several years ago but I still love that lavender vanity!  Bright pink is so fun and cheerful!  Yellow, of course, is happy - makes for a great kid’s bathroom.  Definitely vibrant and bold with orange and colorful wallpaper.  The balance of white and yellow give this statement vanity a very clean bathroom look.  In my search, I found some colorful vanities available ready made and online.  Super sleek and modern. A long time client of mine, who’s home I helped design awhile back with an online design for her living room, followed by her father’s family room as a surprise birthday gift - both projects involved the flat rate room design where I put together the layouts and furnishings selections and she took care of the ordering and implementing, resulted in helping with two more very recent projects: her daughter’s new home in Waco, TX and her son’s college dorm room. She emailed me last weekend asking if I could help with a fast track project. Her and her husband were going to visit their daughter for the weekend and wanted help putting both the living and dining rooms together. In just two days time I put together the furniture layouts, furnishing selections, and concept boards. She shopped over the weekend locally in addition to ordering online, and the photos below are the results of progress in less than one week (still progress, but coming together!). Two days later, she asked if I could help with her son’s college dorm room! We had such an amazing group of twenty-four girls along with Sara, Florence, and Veronika from Modenus. I had so much fun getting to know these girls and making new friends! This past week I attended an event at Twentieth here in Los Angeles. It was for the release of the six meter Surface Table by Established & Sons, a UK based furniture company. I hadn’t been to the showroom in quite some time and so it was fun to have a look around - so many interesting and inspiring pieces! (We got a little exclusive back room tour too, shhhh don’t tell!)  A teak console stained in smoky black by designer Videre Licet.  Large pendants hang over this funky sofa in the window display at Twentieth.  A large brass screen floats across the showroom floor.  This sparkly chandelier is stunning in person.  A cool chair flanked by pedestal tables.  By the same designer of the console above, Smoked Ramiform is sculpted from a massive piece of teak.  Stunning hanging chandeliers.  Well, I learned the top of these tables are made from the skin of manta rays.  Another sculptural piece from the same designer as the console and chair, again made from teak and stained black. A great conversational centerpiece.  |
